Pauline Didcock Aunty P, Crawley West Sussex,  pmajdidcock@blueyonder.co.uk

My Mother recently died and like most I did not ask enough questions of my parents. She was Elizabeth Hamilton from Irvine Ayrshire Scotland and married a Simeon Alexander Munro sometime after or during the war. My dad I belive orginated from Abderdeen and then moved to Newcastle when he was young. His mother's name was Sarah. Sarah my Nan I belive had some sort of shop. My dad was mainly brought up by his grand mother. My dad was born either on 20th or 27th May 1909. This seems funny as all his life he believed he was born on 20th May, 1909 but when his retirement papers came through they insisted he was born on 27th. If anyone know's of the family of Simeon Alexander Munro I would love to here from you

My gr. grandmother, Catherine Munro was born 25 April 1834,  Edinburgh, parents were George and Mary (thompson), married Gorbals, Caithness, Lanarkshire 15 June, 1833 and emmigrated to Australia about 1846, age about 12, presumably with family, at least father George Munro, a bootmaker. There are no details re her mother. I have searched immigration records and have found no further clues as to the family origins.

Catherine married William Wenban in Sydney, Aus in 1851 aged 17. Is there anyone out there able to supply any details of the family origins from Scotland please?
