I am seraching for more information about the Inverarary Argyllshire Munros. I can establish that I am connected to a Dugald Munro born 1735 in Glenarary Inverarary. Dugald is the father of John Munro b.1760 Inverarary. He married Mary McKinzie in 1790 and the result of that marriage is my great, great, great grandfather Duncan Munro 1790-1882. He married Janet McCunn b.1783. Their Son Archibald b. Dumbarton 1825 is the father of my great grandmother Janet Munro b. Dumbartonshire in 1858. Her mother was Helen Mitchell. Janet is the mother of my grandfather Andrew Mitchell Munro b Goven in 1878 died in Clydebank 1948. He was maried to Jane Kerr of Helensburgh. My mother is Jean Kerr Munro b. 1906 and married to Ivor Thorne. I was born in Hitchin England in 1941. I am interested in two things: Any info about Janet Munro. I have her in Bonhill in the 1881 Census. Hence all the info about Duncan from Inverarary aged 91. She falls off the earth by the 1891 census and is mentioned as deceased in the 1899 marriage certificate of my grandparents. So I would like any info on Janet and what my grandfather Andrew Mitchell Munro was doing from 1891-1899. Also I would like to push back the Munro's in Inverarary before 1700. Any help will be appreciated and i will reciprocate with anything useful to any one looking for the same people.  Thanks Tom Thorne

Looking for family links to my Great, great grandmother  Euphemia Munro Moffat.  Born around 1806  at Nigg, Ross and Cromarty Scotland.   Her parents William Munro (farmer,  also refered to as spirit merchant at Abbeyhill) and Janet Ross (previously McCulloch ?).  I have a detailed history  of her life after 1838 when she marries Abram Moffat of Musselburgh.  But her personal family history has proved to be frustrating.  I believe there is a connection to Balnagown on the Ross side.

I have been tracing my great grandmothers family history for a couple of years now and have been able to do a basic trace back to 900AD approximately with Irish Chief of O'Cathan being the last traceble ancestor. My great-grandmother is Vivian Maybell Monroe, known to be with white hair which my children and I also have and her father was Thomas Newell Monroe, his father Louis F. Monroe, his father Joseph Marion Monroe, his father George W. Monroe Sr. his father Robert Monroe and his father William T. Monroe and more follows but I do not want to bore you to tears lol. I have pedigree charts with dates and names which I would love to confirm, fill in and complete so I may finish the other branches of our family tree of Herrington, Blenden, Barnett and Kelling; these are my grandparents names and maiden names. I will continue to search but am also willing to share what I find with you and others, and hope that this is returned in kind. I have some old pictures from a book of some of the family of Monroe back in the middle to late 1800's. Let me know if you can assist and I can do the same.
