The Kilearn (Feis Rois) Fiddlers

In 1990 three young children from Kiltearn Primary School in Evanton, Easter Ross, began learning traditional fiddle under Alpha Munro at a weekly class set up by Rita Hunter, director of Feis Rois. This was part of an emerging traditional music programme taking place throughout Ross and Cromarty under the Feis Rois banner.
Soon the numbers on the Kiltearn register increased to 40 and from this emerged a talented youth group which performs regularly at ceilidhs and festivals. The Kiltearn Fiddlers have featured on radio and television and have played for local dance events and community shows. However, many of the children on this CD have never played in front of a mike before. Their ages range from eight years old.
